Hanh Pham still holds a grudge against anyone who calls a preventive-care explanation “just a reminder,” because she spent her early twenties portioning allergy-safe lunches while answering the same question at three different service windows. The grudge started there, when a careful explanation about an ingredient became household folklore before the trays reached the tables, and she has been listening for the missing sentence ever since.
