Nneoma Ibekwe still resents the weather-station contractor who taught her to trust a cloud sensor that had been mounted upside down, and she brought that suspicion into blacksmithing after copying a video apprenticeship's quench without checking the steel. The resulting bottle opener split at the bend, and she has never again quenched anything before replaying the heat, reading the grain, and measuring the tongs against the workpiece.
