Cryptid Field Researcher's Trail Camera Captures 4,000 Photos of the Same Deer
The researcher insists the deer's 'unusually frequent visits' are themselves suspicious and warrant further investigation.

A trail camera deployed by cryptid researcher Vera Infrared in a remote section of the Appalachian Mountains has recorded 4,247 photographs over a six-month period, every single one of which depicts the same white-tailed deer.
'This is not the result I was hoping for,' Infrared conceded, scrolling through an SD card containing thousands of nearly identical images of a deer looking directly at the camera. 'But it raises its own questions. Why is this one deer visiting my camera site so frequently? What is it trying to tell me? Is it trying to prevent me from photographing something else?'
The camera, a commercial infrared model rated for wildlife and security applications, was positioned on a trail identified by Infrared as a 'high-probability cryptid corridor' based on local folklore, an analysis of topographical maps, and 'a feeling I got.'
'The camera was supposed to capture anomalous creatures moving through the area at night,' Infrared explained. 'Instead, it captured this deer approximately twenty-three times a day, every day, for six months. The deer appears to live directly in front of the camera.'
Wildlife biologist Dr. Thomas Antler reviewed the photographs and confirmed that the images depict a single adult male white-tailed deer that has established the camera site as part of its regular territory.
'Deer are creatures of habit,' Dr. Antler said. 'This one has found a spot it likes. There's nothing unusual about it.'
Infrared disagreed. 'A deer that visits the same spot 4,000 times is not normal deer behavior. That's sentinel behavior. That deer is guarding something. I've named him Kevin and I believe he's working with whatever is in those woods.'
Infrared has repositioned the camera fifty yards to the left. As of press time, it has captured seventy-three photographs of what appears to be the same deer.
