Angler Claims New Personal Best, Photo Shows Only His Face and What Could Be Any Fish or Possibly a Log

Angler Todd Spinner has claimed a new personal best largemouth bass, supporting the assertion with a photograph so poorly framed, lit, and focused that ichthyologists, photo analysts, and his own fishing partners have been unable to determine whether the image depicts a fish, a piece of driftwood, or a wet boot. The photograph, taken with Spinner's phone held at full arm extension over a boat gunwale, shows approximately 94 percent of Spinner's forehead, a portion of sky, and, in the lower-right corner, a dark oblong shape partially obscured by Spinner's thumb. 'That's her,' Spinner said, pointing at the shape. 'Seven pounds, eight ounces. The biggest largemouth I've ever caught. You can see the jaw right there.' When it was noted that 'right there' could also be interpreted as a branch, Spinner zoomed in on the image, producing a pixelated blur that resolved nothing. 'The mouth is open,' Spinner insisted. 'You can see the gill plate. That lighter area is the lateral line.' 'That lighter area is lens flare,' said his fishing partner, Reggie Trace. 'And I was in the boat. I saw the fish. It was maybe four pounds. Maybe.' Spinner has submitted the photograph to several fishing forums, where responses have ranged from 'nice forehead' to 'sir, this appears to be a photo of your face near some water.' One commenter enhanced the image using AI upscaling software and concluded that the object was 'most likely organic, possibly aquatic, and definitely not seven pounds.' Spinner remains unshaken.
