Nardos Bekele still resents the oak trestle that made her swear off agreeing that a table was nearly finished. In her forties, after years triaging limps, abscesses, and mysteriously swallowed objects at veterinary clinics, she became locally celebrated for bringing a stubborn drawer to an even reveal, at the cost of losing an entire weekend to one final shaving.
